Former Blues forward Fernando Torres is largely seen as a flop when it comes to his Chelsea career. However, there is an occasion in which the Blues fans will never forget.
The 2012 UEFA Champions League against Barcelona was at a scoreline of 2-1 at the Camp Nou. The tie was 2-2 on aggregate since Chelsea defeated the Catalans 1-0 at the Stamford Bridge courtesy of a brilliant touch from Didier Drogba.
As it stood, Chelsea would still qualify since they had the away goal advantage in their favour. However, this was a Barcelona team under Guardiola that had Lionel Messi, Xavi, and Iniesta in their prime. Famously and arguably known as the best side ever, the Barcelona team could score a goal in the twinkle of an eye.
But, it wouldn’t be. When everyone thought all Chelsea players were in their box, Torres was standing just around the middle of the pitch as a cleared ball reached and he raced toward the Barcelona goal beating Victor Valdes and slotting the ball into the net.
